Circa 1920s Burke Starter Set

If you’re looking for an affordable and authentic way to play hickory golf, look no further than this four-club mixed set of irons made in the 1920s and fully refurbished for hickory golf play. This short set features three clubs made by Burke and a single club made by an unknown maker (possibly also Burke). The three primary irons have been hand-selected for their optimal swing weight and characteristics for play and make a perfect minimal set of irons for someone interested in playing hickory golf with authentic clubs.

Included in this short set:

  • Walter Hagen Mashie Iron made by Burke : 27 degrees of loft, D0 swing weight, 37-3/4” playing length)

  • “Chevy Chase” Mashie (maker unknown): 38*, E0, 37-1/2”

  • Victor Niblick made by Burke: 47*, E1, 36-3/4”

  • Victor Putter made by Burke: 6*, -A, 34”

Refurbishment includes surface rust removal, resetting of the head with epoxy, repinning with 1/8"-inch brass rod, wood shaft reconditioning, a new leather grip (rough side out), and fresh whipping thread where necessary.
