Circa 1920 Gibson
Dreadnaught Brassie

This heavy and deep-faced Scottish-made brassie was made by William Gibson in Kinghorn, Fife, sometime in the early 1920s. Gibson was considered the world’s largest manufacturer of golf clubs during the hickory era.

Interestingly, this club appears to be a factory reject as indicated by the misspelling and attempted correction of the word “dreadnaught” on the head. In any event, it has very good weight, a strong shaft and will make a fine brassie for play in the hands of an accomplished - or confident - hickory golfer.

  • 8 degrees of loft, D4 swingweight, 43-1/2 inches long

  • New suede grip, new whipping - set up for play

  • Good condition - scratches and slight gouge on head; nothing that affects playability
