Circa 1920s Five-Club
Starter Set #2

The great thing about hickory golf is that it doesn’t require more than a handful of clubs. Creating multiple shots with just a few clubs was the name of the game in the wood-shaft era and this five-club starter set will encourage you to play the game the way it was meant to be played.

These five clubs were made in the 1920s by a variety of American and British makers and have been fully refurbished for hickory golf play. All of the irons have been hand-selected for their optimal swing weight and characteristics for play and make a perfect minimal set of irons for someone interested in playing hickory golf with authentic clubs.

Included in this set:

  • Burke Grand Prize Midiron: 25 degrees of loft, D3 swing weight, 38-1/2” playing length)

  • Piccadilly Mashie: 36*, E7, 38”

  • Burke Grand Prize Mashie Niblick: 44*, D6, 37-1/2”

  • Kroydon Niblick: 50*, D6, 36”

  • Standard Mills Mallet Putter: 12*, C4, 34-3/4”

Refurbishment includes surface rust removal, resetting of the head with epoxy, repinning with 1/8"-inch brass rod, wood shaft reconditioning, a new leather grip (rough side out), and fresh whipping thread where necessary.
